Paula Whalen

Paula Whalen is an artist living on the edge of the wild Atlantic in Hull, MA. She is currently focused on a recycle/recreate project since February 2023. My Daily Cuppa, is an art project founded on the love of a daily cup of tea. A reminder of the tea she shared with her grandmother, connecting her to a generation of older, wiser, women. While preparing to teach a recycle art class to kids, Paula thought "What can I do with a tea bag”? She started spontaneously painting on them using landscapes, critters, ghosts, and people she loved to create tiny tea bag images.

Taking it a step further, Paula has extended the recycle project to select, unique, frames to enhance each art piece. Recycled frames need tender loving care to repair, repaint & wire for hanging. Paula exhibits and sells through the Morini Gallery in Mansfield, MA along with accepting commissions.

Whalen’s other passion is spooky sketches. These sketches stem from an urge to create in the wee hours of the morning, during the space between sleep and awakening. All things dark and mystifying intrigue Paula and she channels these images in black & white with swift pen strokes. Having a love of the occult and an inner need to connect with the spirit world is an ongoing search since her youthful experiences with grief.

When not making art, Paula enjoys reading mysteries, thrifting, walks on the beach with her cat Pippin & dog Pongo (the inspirations fora picture book, but that’s another story). Paula lives with her artistic spouse in an eclectic beach house. She also loves driving to Brooklyn to visit her adult child who makes costumes in NYC.
